Mandrake
Eau de Parfum
A narcotic harmony of tart red-fruit and creamy birch suede.
Description
In biblical scripture, Mandrake was referred to as ‘the love plant’ and was thought to have male fertility enhancing properties when taken in small dosage. Long used in Wiccan ritual, it’s said to only grow in a spot where the seed of a hanged man has dripped onto the ground, thus insuring the plant is charged with an usual, masculine creative energy. Mandrake flowers naturally smell of ripe apple which we loved; we reinforced this with a red fruit heart of crisp apple, juicy pomegranate and tart rhubarb. Its roots were thought to emit a fatal, supersonic scream when dug up (if you have ever seen the Harry Potter films) which we represented through birch leaf, birch root and a sharp aromatic note suggesting its infamous, deadly shriek. Carlos grounded it all with ‘Deadly Addiction Accord’, a creamy, gourmand woody base he developed specifically for this scent.
