Poppy Soma
Eau de Parfum
A burning floral fever-dream.
Description
Known to the Ancient Sumerians as “the joy plant”, the red poppy symbolized nocturnal oblivion in the pre-Christian world, specifically sleep, night, and death. Translating to “moon” because it would glow in the dark fields, Soma is the sweet, milky sap that oozes from the bulbs which is collected and then processed into raw smokable opium gum. As the Chinese used the poppy for sex, we wished to impart a sweaty, musky sensuality to spicy, intoxicating smoke, and imagined two warm nude bodies in embrace, intertwined in hallucinogenic fever, and chasing a fiery dragon into the clouds above. Poppy Soma won Perfume Extraordinaire, the only blindfolded prize at the 2017 Fragrance Foundation Awards.
